The book Rule of the Bone surrounds the main theme of what an Anti-hero is. An anti-hero is a person that does not show any features or characteristics of a heroine, but in the end is a hero none the less.

Rule of the Bone is about a boy named Chappie who is pretty much the odd one of a group. He has a mohawk, nose rings and smokes weed. His father left his family and now has a stepfather that, well, i guess you just have to read to find out.This coming of age novel wraps itself around Chappie's life and how he changes from being one person in the beginning to being another person in the end. This new identity, this new characters name is Bone.
